I am Julia Alvarado.
My mission is to merge technical excellence with social impact by mentoring underrepresented talent in STEM and the skilled trades. I lead through service, creating pathways for others to rise with confidence and to realize they can achieve more than they ever imagined.
For some, I am an engineer; for others, I’m a journeyman inside wireman. Some people see me as a mentor or a speaker. However, I consider myself a steward who builds and certifies reliable electrical systems that people can trust. I am also a servant who enforces industry standards.
My Story
Growing up on the border of Mexicali and Calexico, CA I inherited the resilience and relentless work ethic of two cultures. Since childhood, I knew I was destined to be a NASA engineer. When severe financial barriers threatened that dream, my faith pushed me forward. I worked grueling hours to become an IBEW Journeyman Inside Wireman, studying late into the night until I proudly earned my engineering degree from Murray State University.
That unbreakable perseverance led me to my ultimate goal: working at NASA Ames. Today, I live my childhood dream, validating critical electromechanical systems for historic space exploration missions like Artemis II. My journey from solar panels to NASA is living proof that with faith, fierce discipline, and a refusal to give up, what seems impossible becomes inevitable.
